Mission  & Vision

The Mission

The Vision

We do this in a variety of ways, but primarily through the verse by verse preaching of God’s Word. The accurate, Biblical teaching of the Word of God is the foundation of what we do here at HCC. That includes doing so at every level…from the kid’s ministry up to adult discipleship. Join us as we explore the life-changing teaching of the Bible.
The vision of Harmony Community Church is create a community of authentic believers and to witness a city transformed by the life changing reality of the Gospel as people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Our Four Guiding Principles

These are the four guiding principles that best describe Harmony Community Church and our mission.

DISCOVER

Harmony Community Church provides an insightful, meaningful, and safe place to discover the God of the universe. All of us our born into sin and with a desire to not seek God (Romans 3:11; Romans 3:23). As He draws us to Himself, we then desire to know Him. Our goal is not to know about Him...but to know Him better. Abraham, Moses, the Disciples, and Paul all had to discover Who God actually is. At HCC, our primary goal is to know Him and make Him known. Discovery can often be uncomfortable. You will have a lot of questions and a lot of thoughts. That's okay. It is all part of the process. Ultimately we all must discover that Jesus is Who He claimed to be...and that He will do what He claimed to do (Luke 19:10). You can safely discover this here at Harmony Community Church.

WORSHIP

Worship is at the core of what we do here at HCC. The worship services are poured through that filter. We are not interested in entertaining (the world does enough of that). We are not here to teach you to be a better person (there is a self-help section at the bookstore that errantly claims to do that). We are here to worship the only Being worthy of our worship. The One who spoke the universe into existence (Genesis 1:1-3). The One Who loves us more than we can understand (Romans 8:37-39). The One Who sent His Son to save us from sin (John 3:16). The One Who will welcome us into His heaven as one of His own children (Revelation 21:1-7). Now that is a God worth worshiping!

GROW

When we come to faith in Christ, we are expected to grow in that faith and not remain where He saved us (1 Corinthians 3:2). In Jesus' famous "Parable of the Soils" (Matthew 13:1-23), the only people who did not grow were those who had no genuine faith in the first place. Therefore, growth in our faith is the natural result of coming to faith in the first place. Here at HCC, we take discipleship very seriously. We very much want Believers to grow. In fact, that is also a part of the discovery aspect of what we do. To that end, we have local small-groups that meet regularly for this purpose. We also develop classes outside of the worship service in order for you to learn and grow in your faith. The bottom line is...if you want to grow in your faith...HCC is the place for you!

SERVE

A college football coach once said: Football is where 50,000 people who desperately need exercise are watching 22 people who desperately need rest. This can often be said (proportionately) of the Church. God did not save you to sit in a pew and wait to go home to Him (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). The ultimate goal to which we are working is to help Believers identify their gifts (we all have them); hone their gifts; and use them to glorify God (Ephesians 2:10). God does not require us to work for our salvation. But it is expected that we work from our salvation. Our job at HCC is to help you find what God has gifted you to do...then empower you to do it for His glory (Galatians 2:20). Simply put, you cannot serve if you do not grow. You cannot grow if you do not worship. You cannot worship if you haven't even discovered Who God is in the first place. That's why these principles were chosen and placed in this order. Please know that here at HCC you will discover, worship, grow, and serve.
